Charming window picture with the emblem of Hamburg Altona. The circular glass plate, framed in lead, is embellished with a colourful enamel painting, produced in 17./ 18. century.
DESCRIPTION:
Colourful enamel painting on circular glass with the emblem of Hamburg Altona, framed in lead, 17./ 18. century. Especially in its function as window picture do glass and painting impress, the oval shield is surrounded by blue colouring with brown pattern. The city gate with its open wings and the 3 turrets is set on yellow background. The gate per se is build up of clear glass, just the details in russet tinge give the shape. In front of the gate there is the so called "Siebenberg" in blue and green colouring with wave-like outlines in russet, therefore the appearance is more like water. Above the shield the inscription 'Altona' can be recognized weakly. The glass is framed in lead with hanger and string.
