Wonderful oil painting, still life with flowers, oil on painting board, framed, by Alice Sommer, (1898 - 1982), Dresden, signed and dated 1941.
ARTIST:
Alice Sommer (13.12.1989 Dresden - 01.06.1982 Rotthalmünster/Lower Bavaria), German painter and draughtswoman, studied at the Königliche Kunstgewerbeschule in Dresden and from 1920 at the Dresden Art Academy under Max Feldbauer, among others, where she maintained a solo studio until 1924.
She graduated from the academy in 1924 with an honorary diploma and subsequently worked as a freelance artist. In 1945, some of her works were destroyed during a bombing raid in Dresden. However, the majority of her works were saved by being moved to Ostrau. Alice Sommer lived in Dresden until she moved to live with her son in Munich in 1970. She began to work as an artist again in West Germany.
