ARTIST:
Falk Gernegroß (born 1973) is a well known German artist from Leipzig, he attended the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig and studied painting under Arno Rink and Neo Rauch. The main subject of his paintings are female nudes, on the one hand in erotic pose, on the other hand in provocative or kind of pornographic poses. A contrast to the painted figures give the mostly romantic landscape background, so his paintings seem to play with the viewer and his changing feelings of fascination and disgust.

DESCRIPTION:
Oilpainting with the title "Versteck"(hideout) by the German artist Falk Gernegroß, oil on canvas, 2007. The painting shows a modern male nude from the backside, which hides in an earth pit, slightly bending his upper body forwards, in tense posture the figure is carefully looking around. Noticeable is the smooth colouring in warm earth tones, details are created by effects of light and shadow, the smooth skin of the figure, which effects a boyish appearance and the detailed painting of the feet.
