Utagawa Kunisada (歌川 国貞, 1786 - 1865, Tokio), also known as Utagawa Toyokuni III. (三代歌川豊国), is one of the most popular and successful artist of Japanese woodcuts of the era of Edo. He is one of the most important artists of the style of Ukiyo-e, as well as Utagawa Toyokuni, Utagawa Hiroshige and Utagawa Kuniyoshi.

Very rare collection of 54 coloured woodcuts by Utagawa Kunisada from the series 'Sono sugata hikari utsushi-e'. The woodcuts show scenes of the well known Japanes novel 'Genji Monogatari' (The Tale of Genji), whose story was a favoured theme of the artists of Ukiyo-e.
