ARTIST:
Franz Innocenz Kobell (born in Mannheim, 23 November 1749; died in Munich, 14 January 1822) was a painter of landscapes, architecture and animals as well as a drawer. From 1779 till 1884 he studied in Italy. In Rome he met Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Kobell produced in his behalf few drawings. After 1785 Kobell lived in Munich and became painter to the court. He mostly confined himself to the use of pen and pencil, leaving 20,000 landscape and architecture pen drawings and etchings. Works of this artist are located in Museums all over the world, e.g. J.Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles.
