COPPER ENGRAVER:
Willem Janszoon Blaeu (1571 - 1638) and Joan Blaeu (1598 - 1673), since 1629 Willem Blaeu printed high quality atlases and maps in his publishing house. After his death his son Joan Blaeu continued the publishing work and realized the printing of the well known 'Atlas Maior'.

Old coloured copper engraving map of the Italian coastal region Riviera di Ponente from the atlas 'Toonneel des Aerdryckx...', published by Willem and Joan Blaeu, Amsterdam, 1658. In rich detail is the region between Genoa, Nice and Turin in the north with its rivers, cordilleras, cities and districts illustrated. The map is decorated with an extraordinary title cartouche with the coat of arms of Genoa and maritime staffage at the Ligurian Sea.
