DESCRIPTION:
Aesthetically coloured copper engraving map by Abraham Ortelius from a Latin edition of his atlas 'Theatrum Orbis Terrarum', published in 1595. The map shows Palestine, Holy Land, Israel, Egypt, Syria, Arabia . There are illustrated the courses of rivers, lakes, mountains and towns as well as the Mediterranean Sea. The map is furthermore decorated with 2 very nice looking cartouches.

- some marginal damages with defect at the lower left corner outside the illustration
