Paul Louis Émile Loiseau-Rousseau was a French sculptor. He was born in Paris on April 20, 1861 and died there in 1927.
His teacher was the sculptor Théophile Barrau. Loiseau-Rousseau exhibited at the turn of the century at the salons of the Société nationale des beaux-arts. He was awarded the gold medal at the 1900 Paris World's Fair and was knighted in the Legion of Honor in 1901. His works include busts, animal figures, and statuettes, often related to Africa, and are classified as Art Nouveau.The artist is noted in Bénézit's directory (Emmanuel Bénézit: Dictionary of Artists) and in James Alexander Mackay (The animaliers. A collector's guide to the animal sculptors of the 19th & 20th centuries. Dutton, 1973. p. 72).

Fine sculpture of a jockey on his horse. On rectangular base, metal, bronzed. Created about 1900, the details of this beautiful work are worthy of mention: for example, the graceful horse with visible veins and muscles, the saddle, the bridle, the jockey in his clothes, etc.. The work is signed "E. Loiseau" by the artist on the front of the plinth on the right side.
