July 19, 1945) was a famous Swiss art critic, whose objective classifying principles ("painterly" vs. "linear" and the like) were influential in the development of formal analysis in the history of art during the 20th century. He taught at Basel, Berlin and Munich in the generation that raised German art history to pre-eminence.

10 exquisite miniature paintings by Annette von Eckardt with selected motifs of the unique apokalyptic illustration circle of the Ottonian dynasty - The Bamberg Apocalypse -, published about 1930. The illustrations, painted with opaque colours and abundant gold decoration, are fixed on cardboard and are enclosed by a beige coloured linen folder. The illustrated motifs are: 1. The throne of God; 2. epistle to the church in Smyrna; 3. John writes to the Churches at Pergamon and Thyatira; 4. Virtues defeat Vices; 5. binding of Satan; 6. Christ and the seven lampstands; 7. CONDITION:
Generally in good condition. The slipcover is partly stained, bend and defected. The cardboard is slightly browned and stained. Some illustrations with scratches and the gold decoration is partly rubbed.
