Five very rare and beautiful decorated plates: East-Asian porcelain plates (Japan) with extraordinary Imari decor and gold decoration. Probably 18th century.
DESCRIPTION:
Collection of five Japanese porcelain plates, probably from beginning 18th century. These plates are fascinating by its colourful and filigree Imari flower decor in cobalt blue and red on white ground, highlights in the flowers are set with gold, as well as the gilded rim. The plates all consist of a flat corpus with higher rim. Provenance: Collection of margraves and Grand Dukes of Baden, Sotheby´s auction Baden-Baden in October 1995
CONDITION:
- considering its age in very good condition
- sporadic small cracks
- minor damage and just little traces of use
- some glaze damage
- 1 plate with splintering and crack
- gold decoration slightly rubbed
