DESCRIPTION:
Selected Italian work by Daniele Barbaro about the 16th century skills of perspective. An early and alternative version of the 1st edition of "La practica della perspettiva", 1568, with the undated title in gorgeous border and a dated colophon.
The work "La practica della perspettiva" was published just before Barbaros death and intended as reference document for painters, sculptors and architects and perhaps can be seen as an additional work of his Vesuvius translation. This work contains 195 pages with many illustrations, xylographs and figural initials. Many of the illustrations are like an appliqué, included are 3 illustrations of stage settings adapted from Sebastiano Serios original, some illustrations reminiscent of Albrecht Dürer woodcuts and one image of the new measuring instrument of Giacomo Castriotto.
